Recensione negativa del film “Le pagine della nostra vita”

Una trama articolata, ma alquanto prevedibile, si presenta sotto gli occhi dello spettatore che già dall’inizio del film riesce a comprendere l’intreccio tra passato e presente dei ricordi d’amore di Allie e Noah, intreccio stroncato da una malattia che non perdona: la demenza senile.

Tendenti al fantastico i brevi ed improvvisi ritorni allo stato di coscienza da parte della protagonista ed alquanto utopistico il messaggio che possa esistere realmente un amore eterno tra due persone. L’idea che un uomo, oramai avanti con l’età, per giunta malato e padre di tre figli che richiedono la sua presenza nella loro vita, possa dedicarsi esclusivamente ad una moglie annientata dalla “malattia dell’oblio” al punto tale da vivere solo in funzione sua e nella speranza di farle ricordare il loro amore non lascia altro che un sorriso sarcastico sulle labbra di colui il quale partecipa alla visione del film. Fino a che punto si è capaci di rinunciare a se stessi e donarsi completamente all’altro, se poi chi ci sta vicino non è più in grado di “intendere e di volere”?

Nick Cassavetes ci suggerisce di vivere di ricordi, del passato, di un tempo che fu, ma al regista bisognerebbe ricordare che la realtà è un’altra, scandita dalla quotidianità del presente ed il timore del futuro. Non si può pensare di poter lottare contro i mulini a vento, pretendendo di poter restituire, attraverso il ricordo, la salute e la memoria oramai perse. Una impresa da definirsi impossibile e soprattutto, l’idea di poter vedere coppie che dopo tanti anni di matrimonio e l’avanzare dell’età possano percepire il loro rapporto di coppia con la stessa intensità iniziale potrebbe appartenere solo ai sogni ingenui di un bambino. In una storia d’amore travagliata si possono accettare crudeli prese di posizione da parte delle famiglie che vogliono ostacolare una unione, si può pensare di abbattere le distanze spazio temporali per tenere saldo un legame, ma non è concepibile credere che basta rivedere una fotografia di un amore adolescenziale per mandare al vento un matrimonio programmato e consenziente con un’altra persona che per giunta si dice di amare.  E’ poi fiabesco che una giovane donna aristocratica possa innamorarsi di un povero operaio e rinunciare completamente  al suo stile di vita, sradicandosi dal contesto in cui vive. L’intromissione, nel corso della narrazione, di un breve capitolo dedicato alla seconda guerra mondiale poteva tranquillamente essere omesso in quanto toccato superficialmente e poco rilevante per lo sviluppo della  relazione tra i due innamorati. Un finale surreale poi chiude “in bellezza” una pseudo storia d’amore basata sull’impossibilità da parte della protagonista di ricordarla e percepirla come tale.

Le pagine della nostra vita: un amore senza confini

Per dirla alla Albert Camus, ogni uomo potrebbe vivere anche un solo giorno ed essere in grado di riempire una intera vita con i ricordi e le emozioni di quel giorno. Se da un lato la mente può non essere più in grado di rielaborare il passato, il cuore non ha bisogno di sforzarsi molto per  “riportare alla memoria” un sentimento forte, intenso, in quanto questo organo, simbolo dell’amore, “possiede delle ragioni che la ragione non conosce”.

Nick Cassavetes, il regista del film “Le pagine della nostra vita”, ispirandosi al romanzo di Nicholas Sparks, propone una storia d’amore senza confini, un rapporto di coppia che niente e nessuno è in grado di ostacolare. Noah trascrive su di un libro le fasi della sua storia d’amore con Allie, sua moglie, oramai affetta da demenza senile. Attraverso numerosi flashback lo spettatore ripercorre il momento dell’incontro, dell’innamoramento, della separazione e del riavvicinamento dei due innamorati. Noah crede che raccontando ripetutamente  la loro storia passata possa ridurre il distacco da Allie alla quale la crudele malattia cancella i ricordi. Un omaggio al detto latino del “verba volant, scripta manent”  che ha convinto un marito ancora innamorato ed in crisi a cercare di produrre qualche effetto almeno sulla “memoria involontaria” dell’amata, quella memoria che ha sede nel cuore. Avanti con l’età e non a caso malato di cuore, il protagonista riesce solo a conquistare degli attimi di lucidità da parte della moglie, quanto basta per rivivere quello che di più bello la vita ha regalato a tutti e due, sperando sempre in un miglioramento, o meglio, nel miracolo di poter tornare alla normalità, alla quotidianità. Noah ed Allie insegnano che solo l’amore può permettere di superare le difficoltà. Entrambi hanno dovuto lottare contro le differenze di ceto sociale, (lui operaio, lei aristocratica) gli impedimenti della famiglia di Allie, l’intromissione di un altro uomo nella sua vita, la guerra, la distanza spazio-temporale ed infine ed ostinatamente si trovano a combattere contro la barriera imposta dalla malattia. Noah non ha nessuna intenzione di rinunciare alla persona che ha riempito di gioia la sua vita ed è convinto che la forza dell’amore possa tenere uniti per sempre.

Incantevoli ed estremamente romantici gli scenari del film, in modo particolare le riprese ai cigni, alle case immerse nel verde, ai gabbiani in volo e le inquadrature ai tramonti sul lago. Di una tenerezza infinita  il primo incontro sessuale tra i due innamorati che trasmette a pieni voti allo spettatore la curiosità, l’emozione ed al contempo il timore di osare troppo e non essere all’altezza della nuova situazione da parte degli innamorati. Molto toccante è il modo in cui Cassavetes propone il passaggio triste dalla gioventù alla vecchiaia: bellezza che va a scemare, salute a mancare, sentimento a mutare,  malattia a deteriorare, ma il finale da fiaba ridona un po’ di ottimismo a chi resta profondamente  emozionato dal film.  I due innamorati infatti muoiono insieme, tenendosi per mano, dopo aver parlato per l’ultima volta in un momento di lucidità di Allie, quindi di riavvicinamento e risveglio del sentimento sovrastato dalla malattia. Si sono giurati amore eterno, quello vero, i due protagonisti del film ed hanno onorato  a tutti gli effetti il sacramento del matrimonio, nel bene e nel male, nella salute e nella malattia, “finché morte non li separi”. Nel loro caso però si ha come l’impressione che sia proprio il distacco dalla terra a dargli la possibilità di “riunirsi” per sempre.
