“ Madri si nasce, non si diventa”

Non si è mai staccato il cordone ombelicale che tiene legata Emily a suo figlio Paul, un attaccamento morboso, iperprotettivo ed ossessivo. La protagonista del film di Kevin Bacon stravolge in tutti i sensi il concetto di maternità ed ancor più di famiglia. Ha rapporti sessuali continui ed occasionali solo allo scopo di rimanere incinta  e rifiuta qualsivoglia coinvolgimento sentimentale con gli uomini con i quali si intrattiene. Un significato di concepimento che nulla ha di profondo se non il mero incontro sessuale per appropriarsi, quasi fosse un diritto, di una nuova vita  biologicamente creata da una unione, ma fattivamente progettata e voluta in maniera egoistica da una sola persona. Fino a che punto è possibile parlare di amore materno se la donna che ti ha portato in grembo non ti permette di avere un padre, di crescere con gli altri, lontano dal suo sguardo vigile, imponendoti una sola forma di vivere, quella che ritiene più consona alla sua volontà e necessità di essere la sola persona al mondo in grado di rispondere a tutte le tue esigenze?

Emily protegge Paul dalla società intera, emarginandolo di fatto, come se non volesse farlo contaminare da altro che non sia se stessa. Ad ogni distrazione ed interesse di suo figlio si sente minacciata nella sua convinzione di essere la sola a poterlo arricchire culturalmente e farlo divertire. Per fortuna Paul è un ragazzo forte e molto intelligente, capisce da solo che il rapporto al quale lo costringe la madre è fuori da ogni canone  comportamentale che suole definirsi “normale”. Pur amando l’unica persona che si prende cura di lui, Paul sente di essere soffocato, annientato in ogni suo desiderio di cambiamento e si ribella. Cerca di farle capire le sue ragioni mostrando una maturità , pur nella sua ingenuità, che per assurdo contrasta a pieni voti l’assenza di razionalità di cui è vittima la madre.  Paul è consapevole di essere violentato psicologicamente  e grazie alle sue piccole battaglie riesce ad ottenere brevi vittorie e spiargli di libertà ed indipendenza. Il tragico finale del film lascia esterrefatto lo spettatore che arriva a provare rabbia verso la donna che, per debolezza, organizza un suicidio con lo scopo di morire insieme al figlio, dal quale non vorrebbe separarsi mai.  Ma questa volta Emily  non riesce a realizzare il suo folle desiderio in quanto Paul si salva, a dimostrazione del fatto che nessuno su questa terra può disporre interamente della vita di un’altra persona. Una narrazione a ritroso pesante sia nel contenuto che nella forma, data la presenza di numerosi flashback nel flashback, fa si che la visione del film diventi impegnativa. Al regista va il merito di scaturire nello spettatore una curiosità alla quale non si può dare risposta: come potrebbe essere la vita futura di un bambino che diventerà  un “uomo”, scampato da un omicidio per mano di una madre che non gli ha permesso di avere una identità, violandone tutti i diritti ed abbandonandolo bruscamente senza avergli fornito le armi giuste per vivere a contatto con gli altri?”

 

Recensione positiva del film “Loverboy”

Non è facile essere madri e soprattutto non è facile dosare l’affetto verso chi si sente di amare con la “a” maiuscola. E’ questa la riflessione che scaturisce dalla  visione del film “Loverboy” di Kevin Bacon, al quale dobbiamo riconoscere il merito di aver analizzato il tema della maternità nelle sue anomalie. Per Emily suo figlio Paul rappresenta tutte le figure affettive che non ha mai avuto e quando non si è in grado di distribuire il sentimento diviene quasi naturale riversarlo su di una unica persona, creando rapporti “anormali”.

L’eccesso così come il difetto sono due errori e nella scala dei rapporti affettivi è molto semplice cadere da un estremo all’altro. Bisognerebbe saper fare troppi calcoli, ma per una madre alla quale la natura da il privilegio  di essere un tutto uno con la vita che cresce dentro di lei è fortemente complicato abituarsi al distacco. Il parto ne è la dimostrazione completa. La divisione provoca dolore, sofferenza acuta, sgomento, paura.

Emily è una donna sola, abbandonata alle sue angosce che non vuole e non può condividere con nessuno, delusa da un rapporto genitoriale fallimentare che l’ha condannata, sin da bambina, ad auto educarsi, a badare a se stessa, a contare sulle proprie forze, visto che suo padre e sua madre pensavano solo al loro rapporto di coppia al punto tale da uccidersi insieme nel momento della fase acuta della malattia del padre, per non separarsi mai.

Emily rifiuta un partner perché è nauseata dalla smancerie dei sui genitori con i quali si è sentita di troppo. Attaccandosi con tutte le sue forze al figlio non ha fatto altro che riversare su di lui i vuoti affettivi vissuti, non consapevole che potesse fare realmente del male all’unica persona che conti  nella sua vita. Dal suo punto di vista “avere” è meglio di “non avere”, “dare” di “non dare”, “ricevere” di “non ricevere”. Del resto, se l‘umanità avesse il senso della misura, il giusto equilibrio, vivremo in una società perfetta, idilliaca, ma di fatto utopistica.

Qualcuno ha detto che “amare è un lungo morire” e nel senso letterario della frase la nostra protagonista, non volendo separarsi da chi rappresenta la sua unica ragione di vita, sceglie di morire per non sentire più il peso dell’amore. Uccidersi con il figlio significherebbe seguire in qualche modo l’esempio dei genitori e spezzare i legami terreni che la tengono morbosamente dipendente da Paul al quale ad un certo punto dovrà rinunciare, per  cause di forza maggiore.

Il finale del film, classificabile nel genere drammatico – psicologico, ipotizza come rimedio un ricorso all’aldilà, alla vita ultraterrena, dove forse il dolore si percepisce diversamente, come suggerisce il poeta francese Charles Baudelaire che per ovviare alla sofferenza propone l’infinità dell’incognito cielo: “Non importa dove, purché sia fuori da questo mondo”.
