Recensione del libro: “Oltre il 90°” – a cura di Francesco Caremani

Una porta aperta verso la speranza, una testimonianza di coraggio, determinazione, ambizione, in una parola: un inno alla vita. Tutto questo scaturisce dalla lettura delle pagine del libro che racconta la storia di Flavio Falzetti, un giovane atleta di 37 anni tornato al calcio, sua grande passione, dopo 35 cicli di chemioterapia. La sfida che Flavio porta avanti da anni contro il linfoma di Hodgkin può essere paragonata ad una competizione sportiva durante la quale si cerca di dare il meglio di sé, di vincere, di portare a casa un risultato positivo, mettendosi a dura prova dinanzi a condizioni ambientali più o meno ostili, ad avversari più o meno temibili, dei quali non si conoscono fattezze, tecniche di attacco e difesa, temperamento. Se da una parte la sofferenza raccontata paralizza il lettore, poiché si percepisce il dolore fisico e psicologico di Flavio, martoriato da interventi, terapie sperimentali, autotrapianti, paure, solitudini, silenzi, sfiducie, dall’altra il suo desiderio e la sua volontà di lottare prendono il sopravvento e rendono la sua toccante, profonda e forse troppo movimentata vita, piena di colpi di scena, di sorprese. Flavio non molla, non si abbatte, non segue il filone naturale e scontato che la maggior parte di noi adotterebbe: la rassegnazione. Flavio si piega, ma non si spezza, cade, ma si rialza, per se stesso e per chi gli sta vicino e che vive con l’impotenza del dover assistere ad uno spettacolo desolante ed incontrollabile. La rabbia è sicuramente un fattore determinante, più forte dello sconforto e della paura. Flavio non ci sta, non si riconosce, vuole tornare a tutti i costi ad essere l’atleta di prima, vuole tornare a vivere normalmente dando forza, attraverso il suo vissuto, a quanti hanno deciso di gettare la spugna perché sentono di non farcela. Vuole cavalcare la malattia, piegarla alla sua volontà, trattandola con indifferenza o sferzandole duri colpi per stordirla, almeno per un po’, con la speranza che lo lasci in pace. Quando tramortita, bastonata, la “bestia” si risveglia ed inferocita trama la vendetta, Flavio è pronto ad accoglierla riservandole il trattamento che merita chi, senza preavviso, senza se e senza ma, ti distrugge la vita cercando di umiliarti con cattiveria e spietata ferocia. Da questa esperienza di vita devastante, da questa privazione nel poter condurre una vita serena e tranquilla, come tutti coloro che godono della grande ed imparagonabile fortuna di possedere il bene più prezioso, quale la salute, Flavio ne trae gli insegnamenti migliori che trasferisce al lettore imbarazzato ed umiliato da cotanta nobiltà d’animo. Egli crede che la sofferenza subita non sia da intendere come una punizione divina, ma un arricchimento, un miglioramento del proprio modo di essere e di comportarsi, poiché è solo quando ci si trova a stretto contatto con essa che si percepiscono e comprendono i veri ed unici valori della vita: la solidarietà, l’altruismo, il rispetto, la sensibilità, l’amore. Il suo mostrarsi a cuore aperto dilania l’animo di chi vive una sola giornata dandola per scontata, di chi corre senza mai fermarsi a riflettere, preso da mille impegni, di chi non si gira a guardarsi alle spalle e non tende la mano verso chi ha bisogno di aiuto. Flavio è un ottimista, ma al contempo un realista, spinge le sue forze fino all’infinito senza inchinarsi dinanzi a ciò che intravede all’orizzonte. Non ama che gli si tarpino le ali, non gradisce essere messo in ginocchio. Il suo pensare in modo positivo spinge la malattia nel buio del dimenticatoio, ove vanno a finire tutte le cose che fanno male, dalle quali intendiamo liberarci. Ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere Flavio in occasione della presentazione del suo libro in Campidoglio, alla sala della Protomoteca e sono rimasta colpita dalla sua forza d’animo, dalla sua tranquillità e dal suo modo di dimostrare riconoscenza ed affetto incondizionato. Il suo incontro ha rappresentato per me un motivo di arricchimento, uno spunto di riflessione e per questa ragione non posso fare altro che ringraziarlo per gli insegnamenti che ho tratto da questa grande lezione di vita.
